This chair was modelled on the definitive “B33” Bauhaus steel-tube cantilever chair, created by Marcel Breuer. Breuer, an architect and furniture designer, was a student and later teacher at the Bauhaus. He is credited with creating the first cantilevered chair and was a pioneer in tubular-steel furniture. The simple, modern and functional chair was designed in 1928.
The origination and development of this Landmark collection has followed a similar process to other ranges in the Samuel Heath portfolio. It is based on an in depth knowledge and understanding of the guiding principles that have given rise to a particular period, design philosophy or artistic movement. It is not a reproduction but rather a contemporary interpretation of those guiding principles.
Landmark collection is the latest expression of the passion we have for creating product of real substance. Each element of the design has been painstakingly evolved to ensure that it achieves functional as well aesthetic excellence and remains true to the original concept. The Collections
